How Many Hours Does A Kitten Sleep?

In the first few weeks of a kitten’s life, it sleeps fairly often. In fact, most kittens sleep through the night from about four to seven days old. As they grow older and begin to self-regulate their sleeping patterns, some will sleep for longer stretches – sometimes as long as 12 hours – though that is uncommon until they are around eight weeks old. When kittens become full grown cats, their sleeping habits may change again based on what state of mind they’re in: kittens who are happy or content tend to naturally stay awake more while those that are anxious or overstimulated tend to fall asleep faster than others (this is called “sleep pressure”). And really big kitties can go even longer without resting because they simply need less sleep than smaller ones do!
