We recommend that kittens drink 8 to 10 ml (1 tsp) per day. This volume should be divided into two doses, one in the morning and one at night. Kittens younger than 7 weeks of age may need less (2 to 4 ml/day). It is not necessary for your kitten to be eating solid food yet; they can take advantage of this extra fluid intake without getting hungry.
How much do newborn kittens eat?
Kittens are born with all the nutrition they will ever need because their gut is well supplied by their mother’s milk which contains everything a growing baby needs for growth and development. A healthy, well nourished kitten usually begins feeding within about half an hour after being born, but some will feed more or less readily depending on what else has been going on around them during birth time – including nursing from mum if she was present during birth!
