How Much Should A Newborn Kitten Eat Per Feeding?

There is a wide range of opinions on how much a newborn kitten should eat, and it’s recommended that they are fed every two hours. Some people believe that if the kitten can lap from itself then it is too full to eat any more. The general consensus seems to be between 5 – 10ml per feeding for kittens up to 12 weeks old, but this obviously varies according to your pet’s appetite at each stage of its development.

Unlike dogs and cats who have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years as predators with extremely high metabolisms, most cute little kitties will not need anything near as much food as you might expect them to! If you think your baby needs a lot more than usual I would suggest taking him/her straight off their regular food until you know exactly what he requires.
