At 8 weeks, you should be feeding the kitten 1 to 2 times a day. Feeding one time is okay when your kitten is very small and needs food often, but it’s best to feed two or three times per day. At that age, kittens usually eat about 3 ounces of food per week. So if you’re feeding them every day at this point, they’ll need around 6-8 total feeds per week (and will soon double in size). If their growth slows down after 8 weeks old (they seem to shrink), then decrease the number of daily meals by one or two until they catch up again in another few weeks. But don’t worry too much! They can go months without eating more than once a day… even though it may look like they are always hungry!
