If you don’t want to get into the nitty gritty details on how much food you should be feeding your kitten, here is some basic information that can help. Kittens are generally fed every 2-3 hours during the day and there is also more than one meal per day. The number of meals depends upon your kitten’s growth rate and may change with age. A good rule of thumb for most kittens is to feed them twice a day for each week they are nursing (about 8 weeks old). At this point, you will start cutting back the amount of food more often as well as increasing their exercise time by playing with them or taking them out in a safe place where they won’t be bothered by other animals or humans. Once your kitten begins eating solid foods, he/she can have 4 meals per day instead of 3…just make sure to keep track so you know when to expect their next bottle!
