How Old Does A Kitten Need To Be To Be Fixed?

The age of the kitten can vary. Some kittens may be old enough to receive a spay and neuter surgery at just 5 weeks old, while others may not be mature enough for any surgical procedure until they reach 2 or 3 months of age. The average age for this type of surgery is around 6-7 weeks, but some breeds such as Siamese cats and Persian cats can wait longer than other breeds depending on their size at time of surgery..

How long does it take you to give anesthesia? Would I have to stay overnight? Anesthesia lasts anywhere from 20 minutes up to an hour, based on your pet’s weight and tolerance level. Most pets will sleep the first night following their procedure with little difficulty. If your pet should wake during that first night we will happily re-anesthetize them before they go back under for another nap! They will then need medication (which you must provide) twice daily after the procedure in order to prevent complications such as urinary tract infection (UTI). Once these medications are stabilized we ask our clients make sure there is no fleas or ticks in their home; if so ensure those areas are treated as well! We also recommend using Frontline(TM) Flea & Tick products when needed throughout spring, summer and fall season (April through November), once again due to potential complications with UTIs especially when outside dogs come into contact with our outdoor patients via daycare or playgroups/rescues..
