My Cat Stopped Purring When I Got A New Kitten?

Some people say that when one of your animals stops purring, you should euthanize it. This is not true. Animals can become ill or injured and may stop purring to conserve energy for the purpose at hand. The only time when euthanasia is appropriate is when an animal has been abused or neglected, in which case a veterinarian will perform a necropsy (animal autopsy) to determine the cause of death and take steps toward preventing future abuse.
