I recommend neutering your kitten at 6-8 weeks old to ensure that you won’t be adding any unwanted kittens into your breeding program. The younger the kitten (and therefore, the more work it will entail), the better!
Are female cats neuterable?
Yes, females are also neuterable at 6-8 weeks old. However, if you have a bitch in heat and start her on her first cycle of estrus while she is still young enough for surgery I would leave this until she’s around 12 to 14 months so that she has time to recover from anesthesia before being bred again. She should not be bred early or often thereafter because there are other risks associated with doing so including mammary tumors which can become large and disfiguring as well as uterine cancer – both extremely serious diseases.
