When Can A Kitten Leave Its Mother?

A kitten can leave its mother when it is at least two weeks old. Female cats may mate with several males in a season, and many cats have been known to mate more than once with the same male cat. If a female does not get pregnant within a few months of her last litter, she may stop ovulating for a period of time before going into heat again. Many females will go into estrus twice during their life span, or three times if they are older or have had kittens recently.
