When Does A Kitten Need Its First Shots?

Kittens need the first of their shots at 8 weeks. This is called a “core” series and includes:

• Rabies (required by law in some states)

• FVRCP – Distemper, Adenovirus 2 or 3, Parvovirus 1 or 2. This is a combination vaccine that protects against most common viruses that affect cats at this age. It also helps protect the kitten from feline viral Hepatitis which can be passed to people and other pets when you adopt your cat from us later on in life!

If your kitten is sick with something like diarrhea or vomiting, he may not have received all its vaccinations yet. If so, talk to his veterinarian right away about getting them done as soon as possible!
