When Does Kitten Become A Cat?

Cat age: A kitten’s age is based on the number of weeks it has been born, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association. The maximum age for a cat in humans is about 10 years old; however, most cats live into their 20s and 30s.

Kitten lifespan: Kittens can live as long as normal cats (about 12 or 13 years) if they are cared for properly and not exposed to excessive heat or cold temperatures. They normally reach full adulthood between 3 and 5 months after birth depending on breed size, nutrition and housing conditions. This increases by two months every year until the cat reaches its full size of 8 to 9 months (until 1-2 years).
