A kitten can become an adult at around five to six months of age.
How much do kittens weigh?
Weight is perhaps the most important consideration when selecting a kitten. The ideal weight for a female domestic shorthair would be between 7 and 8 pounds, but this will vary with each one because some females are just naturally heavier than others. Males should weigh between 11 and 14 pounds, and these weights usually stabilize as they grow older. It’s always best to begin feeding your pet as soon as you bring it home so he or she has the opportunity to put on those precious ounces before it’s time for them to go outside. If your baby is underweight, consult with your veterinarian immediately because treatment may need to start sooner than later if eating problems persist once they’ve grown larger enough for life in the wild (they won’t leave their mother until after eight weeks). On average, adult domestic short hair cats normally live between ten and twelve years old; however some have lived up to 16 years old!
