When Should A Kitten Get Spayed?

When a female kitten is four to six weeks old and weighs 1-2 pounds, it’s a good idea to get her spayed. They can’t be spayed until they’re between six and eight weeks of age since the ovaries haven’t fully developed. This also keeps them from going through heat cycles later in life when you want them just for companionship, not reproduction. If she can go outside during the day when you’re at work, that will help with stress levels too–especially if your house cat is an indoor/outdoor type or even if he’s accustomed to being allowed out by himself when he wants (usually in the morning before breakfast).
